LWPTSA Council Scholarships
A $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one student from each of the six LWSD high schools. Additionally, two at-large scholarships for $1,000.00 will be awarded at the committee’s discretion. Three other $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded: the Dr. L.E. Scarr Scholarship awarded to a student going on to a vocational school or community college; the Dr. Karen Bates/LWEA Scholarship to a student planning to continue their schooling in the field of education; and the Adria Klein Memorial Scholarship. In addition, for the 2008-2009 school year, there are four scholarships from the Diversity Enhancement Scholarship Fund at the Seattle Foundation for students who are racial minorities in the LWSD who plan on becoming teachers. Another additional scholarship for this year only is the Jay Ellis Memorial scholarship for a student planning to pursue a degree in music education.
