 Awards 2010  Requirements

The Community Service Award is given to someone in the community who works on behalf of all children and youth and promotes high standards in education.  This person believes in, practices, and encourages community involvement and service.

Certificates of Special Service are given to individuals who have done an outstanding job in their project or area for Council.

The Golden Acorn Award is presented to an individual who has given outstanding service to all childen in the school community…not just an individual who has donated time to help in his/her child’s class or a staff member who is doing a good job.  It is to recognize volunteer service “above and beyond” a particular job description.

The Outstanding Educator Award is presented to an individual who goes beyond the normal expectations of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging.  An educator may be defined as a teacher, assistant, custodian, bus driver, administrator, or community member.

Outstanding Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Washington State PTA, is presented to an individual who may have already been honored and who has continued to give extraordinary volunteer service to children.  The recipient works for children beyond the bounds of a job, PTA, or specific school community and is concerned with ALL children and willing to work to help them achieve their potential.

Outstanding Advocate Award  In 2004, The Washington State PTA established the Outstanding Advocate Award, a new statewide volunteer recognition program to recognize and honor individuals for continued and dedicated service to ALL children and a demonstrated commitment to help create strong policies relating to the health, welfare, safety, and education of children and youth.

Honorary Life Membership Award  The Washington State PTA “Honorary Life Membership Award” is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of PTA.

Community Outreach Award:  This award recognizes a community group, business, or partnership contributing to and affecting the students in the Lake Washington School District, not limiting its outreach to a single local school community.  This recipient has a long-term commitment to the health & welfare of our students by offering outreach support, such as by monetary funding, product donations, or services.
